Letter signed from Charles Knight, Rosslyn Park, Hampstead, to L.J. Biss, Franklin Sienne German Language Institute, St. Louis, Missouri [manuscript], 1868 June 22.

Regrets long delay in answering (his) very flattering letter of the 30th of April. Due to his photographer's death and a fire on his premises, he is unable to send the cartes-de-visite that Biss requested, so he is sending a photo of a recent bust of him by Durham. Also regrets that due to his failing eyesight, he is unable to write the letter himself-- only to sign it.
